ROB'S OVERVIEW

What's special about this year's World Cup races?

Arrogate is the headliner, of course, but there's more . . .

  1. Arrogate
Will he become richest horse ever?

STRONG JAPANESE CONTINGENT: The Japanese bring over a strong contingent of horses including Gold Dream who has already earned a spot into the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar in the fall by winning the February Stakes. Lani, the loveable third place finisher in last year’s Belmont Stakes, will also try the World Cup against his brother, Awardee. The Japanese also bring over 3-year-old in Epicharis who is undefeated in four starts and has already earned a spot in the Kentucky Derby field.

  2. KENTUCKY DERBY POSSIBILITIES: With the Kentucky Derby still wide open, the UAE Derby will be an important qualifying race with these horses-- Lancaster Bomber, Master Plan, Bee Jersey and Spirit of Valor—looking for top performances to send them to the big dance. Can Todd Pletcher continue his Derby prep success with Master Plan or will it be a home court advantage in the desert?

  3. U.S. HORSES HAVE MAJOR SHOTS: Americans and Breeders' Cup connections have major shots in every race. Sharp Azteca for Jorge Navarro will be the North American favourite in the Godolphin Mile. Long on Value for Bill Mott and Richard’s Boy for Peter Miller take on a lightning fast field in the Al Quoz Sprint. Mind Your Biscuits, St Joe Bay and Stallwalkin Dude take on the old veteran Reynaldothewizard in the Golden Shaheen. Arlington Million winner Mondialiste has a major shot in the Dubai Turf and the Dubai Sheema Classic features Breeders' Cup Turf winner Highland Reel who will take on Postponed. This leads to the $10 million World Cup which Arrogate looks to defeat Americans Gun Runner, Hoppertunity, Keen Ice and Neolithic as well as globetrotting stars Mubtaahij, Lani and Gold Dream.

Will Arrogate become the leading money-earner of all time?
Will Rob’s picks help the “I won big” group (and you!) win big?
See you tomorrow morning when we’ll find out!
